Design Brief: This Project won The Pleasure Home, the coveted "Best Home Cinema Room" Award in the Annual "Essential Installer Magazine" Awards.
The Celebrity Client's brief was to turn one weirdly shaped, triangular bedroom of a classic Batchelor Pad in the Docklands into a Screening Room - with the caveat that he brings in his Studio Set Designers to transform it into a 'Batcave'! Cinema Room Solution: We installed a novel rear Projection System so that the Projector and its associated noise and heat was located in a separate room BEHIND the 106 inch Projection Screen. Imagine the guests' confusion at trying to locate the hidden Projector! Master Bedroom: While we were there we also upgraded other rooms. The Master Bedroom was fitted with a wall of blue tinted glass doors. The original design request was to mount a TV within this wall of cupboards. Our enhanced proposal was to make the TV appear to 'float' within this space and to provide a glass backdrop that matched the colour of the doors. In the end we also provided a multicolour LED wash of light that allowed the Client to not only match the tint EXACTLY to that of the doors, but also to select ANY colour - according to his mood! Living Room Upgrade: In the Lounge, we were asked to replace an obsolete TV with the latest ultra high definition TV on the market. The backdrop was chrome panelling. Initially we sourced a chrome edged TV, but were worried that the finish would not match exactly, so in the end we sourced a thin matt black framed TV. We chose Loewe as it offered non standard sizes which enabled us to achieve a flush fit within the existing space. We also redesigned the cabinet underneath with smoked glass doors, ensuring that all the electronics was hidden whilst still allowing them to be controlled by Infrared remote control. Hidden TV in Kitchen: The kitchen features a flip down TV under the Microwave, hidden when not in use. Crestron & Sonos Control: The entire flat is controlled via Crestron remotes. There is also a multiroom Sonos multiroom Audio system installed throughout the property including the rooftop garden. Finger Print Door Entry: For that final wow factor and peace of mind we incorporated the latest, state of the art, fingerprint recognition door entry system! |
