65 inch Mirror TV in Living Room
Mood Lighting and hidden "Xtreme" speakers in Sauna & Steam Room
Design Brief: 18,000 square of Opulence - over half of this hidden underground - a true Xanadu. The brief was to provide a state of the art Smart Home with ease of operation being ESSENTIAL. No compromise was to be given on sound or picture quality, whilst at the same time certain rooms had to have the technology totally hidden, namely the Master Bedroom, the Dining Room and curiously the Cinema Room.
Basement Cinema Room: The Cinema Room encompassed many of our latest tricks to hide the technology - a mirror trap door for the Projector, so that it is ALWAYS hidden from view - an acoustically transparent screen, so that the Morel InWall loudspeakers are along the middle line behind the screen and in EXACTLY the right position for perfect sound, but completely hidden from view - with Subwoofers built into the raised steps at the front - all in the optimum, acoustically calculated position.
State of the art - Hidden TVs: The Living Room features the latest state of the art 65 inch TV, hidden by special Swiss, one way glass - making the TV COMPLETELY invisible when turned off. The glass is specially bonded to the surface of the TV for the greatest effect. The technology used still allows use of conventional remote controls to control the TV (and Sky Receiver in the Basement Rack) in addition to the whole house, iRemoteControl iPad and iPhone Controllers.
The Master Bedroom features a ceiling drop down TV with a flap that hides the TV when it is completely withdrawn into the ceiling. Again operated by iRemoteControl.
15 music zones: A Sonos Music system provides lossless audio combined with the ultimate ease of use throughout the house. Party mode (allowing rooms to be grouped together to play the same music - but at different levels - for example and quieter in the Kitchen where guests want to more easily talk) was just an (iPad or iPhone) button press away!
The music extends out to the Garden Areas. In the Dining Room, two of the latest hidden, plaster over speakers are used. They are audiophile quality rather than the previous generation NXT devices. Only now have The Pleasure Home determined that this technology provides a suitable level of audio quality.
All Bedrooms and Family areas deploy eye-ball ceiling speakers that allow the sound, in particular the treble, to be pointed towards the listener. They are also sealed units - minimising sound leakage into other rooms. The Swimming Pool area uses 6 surround sound waterproof speakers - as do the Bathrooms. The Steam Room and Sauna feature "XTREME" speakers that can handle the extreme humidity & heat associated with these rooms.
Total Home Control:
The Lighting, CCTV, Air Conditioning, Underfloor Heating, 12 camera CCTV system and Door Entry is also controlled via the Client's iPads and iPhones.
