Medieval Backgrounds & Room Icons customised for iRemoteControl!
Industry Award for Best Domestic Install: The Pleasure Home is delighted to announce that it has been highly commended in the UK's prestigious Annual Trade Event run by Essential Install Magazine.
Project Overview: The award was for a unique, Grade II Listed, late medieval merchant’s house occupying 31,900 square feet (2,960m2). The challenge was to produce a high quality, but completely hidden AudioVisual, Wi-Fi and Telephone VoIP solution throughout the Property, whilst at the same time, a team of artisans were painstakingly restoring this precious £200M building to its former 16th Century glory.
Hidden Technology: The finished project boasts mirror TVs with medieval-style frames and invisible speakers hidden behind extremely thin veneers of wood panelling, as the owner did not want to hang anything on the panelling or spoil the layout of the paintings placed throughout the room. There are Roman Baths in the Basement. Again Mirror TV technology was deployed together with "Xtreme" Steam and Sauna resilient speakers.
Music & wireless Microphone for Special Events: Music provision for the property presented some interesting challenges, as the owner holds dinners and special events at the property and wanted the music to fade out, or ‘duck’ whenever he chose to speak on one of the property’s microphones. A feedback exterminator was used in the garden and Great Hall due to the significant reverberation in these large, solid walled spaces. The music also needed to be controlled by the owner's iPad or iPhone, so at a whim he could change the music to fit the mood of the occasion. The Sonos solution was selected for its scalability and significant ease of use. To date over 20 music zones have been installed.
Whole House Control:The iPad and iPhone control uses the state of the art "iRemoteControl" App. It features custom medieval icons and tapestry backdrops in keeping with the property!
Showpiece Room: The showpiece is the Great Hall. When The Pleasure Home consulted with the speaker manufacturers they had no previous experience of running hidden speakers in such a huge area. Twelve speakers and two 12 inch Subwoofers with 2500W of amplification were deployed. The Client's musical love is for Opera and the end result was superb - without a single speaker or modern day technology being visible!
